Schoolzine Knowledge Base
The SZ Widget lets you easily embed links to your Schoolzine features on your website. The links for your SZ Widget are fully customisable depending on what you want to display.
You can adjust the width/height of the widget to match the size of the area you will be adding it to. Listed below are the options available for editing the size of the widget.
Fixed Width: This option requires a specific dimension. The dimension for the width is measured in pixels.
Responsive Width: A variable width that expands to the size of the containing area (meaning you don’t need to know the dimensions of the area adding the widget to).
Note: This also adjusts itself when viewed on mobile.
We recommend the use of this option.
The height of the widget must be a fixed height. In order to remove any scrollbar the height must be large enough so all content within the widget is shown. The dimension for the height is measured in pixels.
Once your widget looks correct, click ‘Get Embed Code’ to reveal the embed code required for your site. Copy and paste the embed code to your site’s webpage. If you’re unfamiliar with code, it’s recommended that you speak to your IT or website team before adding the widget to your site.

Streams act similarly to a 'news feed' for your Schoolzine articles and events. Items can be added to a stream at any stage without the need for an email or notification distribution. With a simple process, important articles can be linked to your streams which are accessible by contacts at any stage through SZapp, your e-Newsletter or your website. Streams can be setup and managed from within your Control Centre at no added cost, see below for instructions on how!
1. Log in to your Schoolzine Control Centre.
2. Select 'Streams' from your left hand side-panel.
3. Select 'New Stream'.
4. Enter a 'Stream Name' (Note: This will automatically occupy the URL (web address) field).
5. Enter a Stream Summary.
6. Select a Skin. This is the design the Stream page will use.
7. Select Save.
To begin building your eNews Builder newsletter, you’ll first need to create the newsletter from within the Control Centre.
A QR Code or Quick Response Code is a version of a barcode used to store data and information via a redirect, most commonly to a Web Page or performing an action on your device such as opening YouTube to play a video.
The Schoolzine Control Centre now has the ability to create custom QR codes from within your admin system. This code can then be inserted onto your newsletter or email communications to point your community to information or resources.
To use a QR code, the user will scan the code with a ‘scanner’ app on your smartphone or tablet (with a camera). There are many free Apps for reading QR Codes available from both the Google Play Store and IOS App Store.
The following will guide you through the process for creating a QR code for use in your outbound communications and newsletters. It is always recommended to test all QR code’s on your own device before sending to ensure that it is pointing to the correct location or file.
If you wish to then place a QR code in the content of a newsletter or email, we always recommend placing some information in the content to inform the community on the content that can be accessed by scanning the QR Code.
IMPORTANT: Editing the Website Address of your QR Code will not update the path of the prior code. You will need to replace the image of a prior code you have supplied to your community.
IMPORTANT: Deleting the Website Address of your QR Code will not remove the path of the prior code. You will need to replace the image of a prior code you have supplied to your community.
