Our story
Wattlebrook opened in 1978 as a two-room schoolhouse serving forty families from the dairy farms along Wattlebrook Creek. As the Dernwood district grew from farmland into a settled community, so did we — but the creek line at our back boundary, and the wattle trees the original students planted, are still here.
Today we're a single-campus school of around 480 students from Prep to Year 6, with a kitchen garden, a sensory garden, an outdoor learning amphitheatre and a Junior Landcare partnership restoring the very waterway our founders once farmed beside.
Students arriving through the Dernwood Road gate, still the school's original entrance since 1978.
