Contact Subscription Statuses

The Schoolzine platform uses subscription statuses to ensure that your recipient database remains clear of any invalid or un-interested contacts.

Contacts are currently listed with one of three subscription statuses, these are:

  • Subscribed
  • Unsubscribed
  • Suppressed

A description of each status can be seen below.

Subscribed

A subscribed contact will receive communications, this can be via their nominated email address, SZapp or SMS. This contact has been individually subscribed by an admin user, included in a contact import or subscribed themselves using a subscription form.

Unsubscribed

A unsubscribed contact won’t receive any communications through the Schoolzine platform. This measure is in place to ensure compliance with GDPR and Spam regulations.

This status can be applied for the following reasons:

  • Contact has clicked the ‘Unsubscribe’ link (this appears at the base of any email sent from the Schoolzine platform)
  • Contact has been unsubscribed by a Sytem User – Admin

The only way a unsubscribed contact can recieve communications is if they opt-in to communications via the ‘Resubscribe email’.

Suppressed

A suppressed contact won’t receive any communications through the Schoolzine platform. These contacts have not opted out of communications, but will most likely have an incorrect/invalid email address.

This status can be applied for the following reasons:

  • Invalid Recipient Address
  • Recipient Address does not exist/is disabled
  • Recipient mailbox was unavailable or full
  • Recipient has marked a communication as Junk/Spam

If you believe that a contact has been incorrectly suppressed, you can request a Suppression Review. Schoolzine will review the contact and confirm if the suppression is valid.
